Yoga breathing exercises for fertility

Promoting fertility is so much more than just taking the right prenatal vitamin, or getting yourself off the pill. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, tight, or have irregular or painful periods, your system is probably overloaded, in a constant state of flight or fight.

Deep breathing with this time-honored yoga breath- Pranayama- is one of the best ways to release tension and improve blood flow to the uterus and reproductive organs. Our amazing remedial masseuse Simon will show you the Pranayama breath, so you can do it quickly and easily throughout your day!

How to do Pranayama breathing for fertility

Hi there! I’m Simon, your remedial massage therapist at Qi Medicine. I’m also a Kundalini Yoga teacher, and today I’m here to talk about fertility and the benefits of this incredible breathing technique that we use called Pranayama. Pranayama is great to calm and yet stimulate the nervous system, and if you are having troubles with any fertility or cramping or any abdominal pain, this is just such a simple and easy
a technique to help improve blood flow to the uterus and reproductive organs.

Posture for breathing

So sit in easy pose with our legs crossed. We’re just going to breathe in and out of the nose. Primarily, you should do this for about a minimum of five minutes. We won’t do the whole process today, I’ll just show you the start, and you can continue on for another five minutes. To begin, bring our right hand up to our right side face. We block off the right nostril and inhale deeply through the left nostril, bring our pinky finger up to sit on our third eye here.

Pranayama is very good for energy flow and to stimulate the nervous system. We inhale deeply through the left nostril; really expanding the
lungs, opening up that pelvic area, letting the energy flow and around to that area. Inhaling, we suspend the breath slightly, and what we do then is that we come and we bring the pinky front finger to cross off the left nostril, open up the right nostril to exhale deeply. In this exhale, we’re exhaling any tension stress, muscle pain, and abdominal pain, too. Then we repeat. Inhale deeply. Hold.

Switch from the left to right nostril

We block off that right nostril, bringing the index finger up, and exhale. Inhale again. Hold suspend. Block off that left. Exhale deeply, letting go through the right, and we continue that breath for a minimum of five minutes, being careful to look after the self and also check in with the self throughout the process.

It is a really really stimulating yet very, very calming exercise that can be done anywhere. Pranayama breathing can help as you endeavor
to become pregnant and to work on fertility health. so I hope that this video has been beneficial to you all, and I look forward to seeing you here in the clinic.

Have a nice day, Namaste!
